Celebrating National Bubble Tea Day at Sunright, April 30

Boba Family shot

National Bubble Tea Day is April 30th, giving you another great reason to take an afternoon boba break today... as though you need any convincing.

Whether you have been a sipper of the tasty Taiwanese treat for mere days or entire decades, you are sure to know the joyful anticipation ignited by quickly popping through the top of your 17-shake-proof seal with an extra-wide straw, breaking the final barrier between you and your bubble-tea treat freshly trapped inside.

There’s no denying that this staple of California’s uniquely diverse food culture is here to stay. From its inception within the impermanent walls of late ‘80s Taiwanese food stalls, to its American establishment in Y2K-era Los Angeles neighborhoods and among youth across California, boba has endured many shifts and aligned with changing trends remarkably well. Bubble tea (synonymously “boba”) has undeniably earned its place in modern food culture, where unique and interesting appearances matter more than ever and trends appear left and right, each one more unicorn-ical than the last.

Before there were cronuts and milk bars, there was boba. Undeniably aesthetically satisfying, this ultra-grammable and sippable delight (that predates the ‘gram itself) is almost as fun to admire as it is to sip and chew your way through. Be warned, it’s easy to speedily devour a Boba Milk Tea, hunting for every perfectly QQ boba pearl resting at the bottom of your cup. Be sure to snap your boom or superzoom just as you pop your straw, because once you do, only superhuman willpower can hold you back from the sweet and satisfying treats within!

Beyond its role as a social media starlet, boba is a favorite treat of adults and children spanning the globe. Boba’s wondrous ability to bring a smile to any face and bring people together across cultures and generations started to be formally recognized in 2018. Since that first National Bubble Tea Day, not so long ago, every April 30th we celebrate the whimsical sweet-bubble-filled drink that’s perfectly suited for sunny California beach days, family trips to Sunright with kids and grandma in tow, and laid-back weeknight hangouts filled with good friends, lots of laughter and, of course, tapioca pearls.

Sip and celebrate the tasty, chewy, sweet treat we’ve made an everyday mission of perfecting for you. Pairing those little pearls of happiness with fresh fruits, mountaintop-sourced teas, delicious delicacies from across the globe, and familiar treats you love is our passion. Sunright is consistently evolving and experimenting with new flavors to continue to grow with this cross-cultural treat that stands the test of time, time and again. We hope you have a wonderful National Bubble Tea Day, smiling all the way. There’s no denying that it’s hard to frown while sipping on a Boba Milk Tea, filled with sunny vibes and made right.
